Learning should not be confined to the classroom.

This is especially true  TODAY as our students attempt to navigate an increasingly interconnected world. Events unfolding outside the cinderblock walls of our school will impact students' futures in profound ways, and their ability to respond effectively to these developments will require far more than graphic calculators and textbooks.

For this reason, Lakeshore established the Sister School Exchange Program in 2018.  This unique opportunity invites students from Lakeshore High School to join students from Gesamtschule Hardt in Mönchengladbach, Germany in a short-term, reciprocal exchange program. Students from both schools host their international partners for two weeks, inviting their guests to experience each other's cultures, tour local sites, form lasting friendships, and learn about the world through meaningful experiences.

The exchange is coordinated by a team of teachers and administrators at Lakeshore High School and Gesamtschule Hardt, but the success of the program depends upon the close collaboration of parents, students, and a supportive community.

"A textbook can only teach you so much. Sometimes you have to be able to go and see things for yourself."                                                  ~Grant Rose  SSEP 2018-2019
